This shop is geared towards the tattoo collector seeking out high quality work in a comfortable relaxed distraction free private setting. Heavy Water was founded in 2014 by owner and artist Brayton Furlong, the shop sits just a half block from the beach on East Cliff Drive & 26th ave in Pleasure point Santa Cruz,Ca.

About The Owner / Artist

Brayton Furlong is an accomplished artist with an extensive professional background working in multiple mediums. Brayton has worked in glass sculpture for 16 years and has shown his work in many prominent galleries along side masters such as Dale Chihuly, Lino Tagliapietra, Paul Stankard and many others. He studied Glass at Penland School Of crafts and was a resident artist at Pilchuck Glass school.

Brayton's tattoo work has garnered him and his shop "Heavy Water" a reputation as one of the prominent tattoo shops in the Bay Area. The Good Times voted HW “best tattoo studio” in 2016, 2017, & 2019 and runner up “best artist” in  2018 and “best artist” in 2019. While Brayton is best known for his realistic black and gray tattooing, he is a well rounded artist and enjoys working in many other styles including dot work, sacred geometry, blackwork, color realism, surrealism, floral,  and many other styles. Brayton travels regularly and tattoos at international tattoo conventions and guests spots. In the past he has tattooed in France, Italy, Greece, Costa Rica, North America and Canada.
